                 4. relevant adj. directly connected with the subject or problem being discussed or considered  有关的,切题的

          5. stick out 伸出

               e.g. Peter’s ears stick out and Lucy stuck her tongue out.

                   彼得长着一对招风耳朵,而露西伸出舌头。

             6. adjust vi & vt. 调整,使适合= to gradually get used to a new situation by making small changes to the way you do things.

            e.g. They’ll soon settle in --- Kids are very good at adjusting.

                   他们很快就会安顿下来,孩子们很会适应环境。

          7. dry out = to become or make sth completely dry after it has been very wet 使……干透

            dry sth out  e.g. Dry your book out on the radiator.

                              把你的书放在暖气上烤干。

          8. dry up   dry sth up

              e.g. The sun has completely dried up the soil and the crops are dying. 太阳把土地都烤干了,庄稼即将枯死。

          9. privilege  n. 特权,特别优待。= a special advantage that is given only to one person or group of people (特权)

           e.g.  Don’t forget that using the car is a privilege, not a right.

        7. Would you like to work as a volunteer in a poor area? Give reasons.

        8. Did you guess correctly about the kind of job Jo has?

        9. What are the differences between the school you go to and the one described in the letter?

       10. What have you learned about the customs and lives of the people in Tombe’s village? Read Jo’s letter again and look at her photos. The complete the table below.
