Point out the new words:
Ask students to try to translate the passage into Chinese.
First read the e-mail message. Say blank each time when coming to a blank line in the message.
Point out the sample answer and ask students to use their imagination to complete the e-mail.
Tell students to use “I’m + verb+ ing” or “I have to + verb”.
Ask students to complete the activity on their own.

Now write your own e-mail message to a friend. You are telling why you can’t visit next week. Say no and give any reasons you wish.
Ask students to give some sample answers. Write them on the blackboard.
Then ask students to write their e-mail message. As they work, move around the room answering questions and providing language support as needed.
Ask some students to read their passage to the class.

First ask two students to read the conversation in the speech bubbles.
A: Can you come to my party?
B; When is it?
A: Next week. On Thursday night.
B: I’m sorry. I have to study for a math test
Then ask students to turn to page 88
First write down everything you have to do next week. Write in all the things you have to do.
Look at your list. What day are you free? This is when you can have a party.

Ask students to fill in the blanks on their own. Tell them that they can find all the words in the preceding unit. Check the answers.
Ask students to make their own sentences with the words.
Get several students to read their sentences.
