General Introduction
I am a third year master major in automation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China. With tremendous interest in Industrial Engineering, I am writing to apply for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate program.
Education background
In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. During the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept distinguished among the whole department. I was granted First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I got the privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission test.
At the period of my graduate study, my overall GPA(3.77/4.0) ranked top 5% in the department. In the second semester, I became teacher assistant that is given to talented and matured students only. This year, I won the Acer Scholarship as the one and only candidate in my department, which is the ultimate accolade for distinguished students endowed by my university. Presently, I am preparing my graduation thesis and trying for the honor of
Excellent Graduation Thesis.
Research experience and academic activity
When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to narrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation scheduling system. It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled a sewage analysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant. This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.
In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research interests include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.

A: Well, they may ask you to tell them about your educational background and your working background.
他们会问你关于你的教育背景和工作背景的问题。
B: But they can see my resume. It's all in there.
但是他们可以看我的简历，都在那里呢。
A: I know, but sometimes interviewers may want to hear you say it. Then, you may be asked for your viewpoint on why you feel you're qualified for the job, give them all your qualifications and how you think they fit with the position you are applying for. Questions like "What sort of experience do you have and what are your goals?" are closely related to this, also.
我知道，但是有时面试者们想听你自己说。然后他们会问你为什么你觉得自己能胜任这份工作。把自身的优势都说出来，告诉他们你有能力胜任这份工作。有些问题像你有什么经验和你有什么目标是紧密联系的。

A: They may want to know how the company will benefit, with your answers to questions like "What can you offer this company?" and "Why should I hire you?"
他们也许还想知道你会为公司带来什么样的利益。会问像你能为公司带来什么，或是我们为什么要用你。
B: I see, what about salary?
我知道了。那工资呢？
A: Umm, they may ask you what kind of salary you had in mind, or simply tell you what the company is offering. I think the latter is more likely for a starting position, especially if you have little or no experience. And if they are seriously considering hiring you, they will probably want to know when you would be able to start working. And basically, that's about it.
噢。他们可能会问你想要多少工资，或简单的告诉你公司的打算。我想一开始工作的话，后者的能性要大一些，尤其是你没有工作经验的话。如果他们真的考虑要用你的话，他们可能会问你，你什么时候会开始工作，一般就这些了。

Notes:
Why do you feel you are qualified for the job? 这句话在面试中经常问到，但它却不好答。要多用一些技巧，尽量把自己的能力表现出来。
What sort of experience do you have? Sort of和kind of一样，表示某种的意思，另外，它还是一个流行的口语，当你表达不清的时侯，用这个词来调整一下。
When would you be able to start working? 通常的回答是ASAP: as soon as possible.
上周六突然接到一让人振奋的电话：“恭喜您通过奥运志愿者四川赛区第一轮测试，请您明天下午一点到*****进行面试。”
等待了三个月的时间，每天上网关注四川地区奥运志愿者选拔进程。可就是没见到自己希望的新闻……今天的这个电话，虽然挺突然，但也是期待以久的。
但是，真正面试之后才发现自己的能力到底是怎样的。
周末，我在面试时间到达前半小时就到达了面试的地点。突然发现周围的人，都是信心十足，看书的看书，背英语的被英语……我呢？还是在准备，不过是在心里……
“B组59号请准备！”该我了？没错！突然觉得成败在此一举。
进入考场，面对各位评委，全身虽然发抖，但我在尽力不表现出来。依旧保持微笑：“各位评委老师好！”“你好，欢迎你参加此次的面试。”评委亦用微笑向我问好，并介绍了各位评委。第一名评委便是中国足球的骄傲——马明宇。虽然对其仰慕已久，但这毕竟是考场，咱不能表现得过于激动吧……这么着便开始了自己的“表演”。
首先，要求自我介绍。这轮，我没把握好时间，结果刚说了一些，评委就举牌了：时间到。
第二个题目：如果你被选上奥运志愿者，但岗位并非你所希望的，怎么办？这个问题我似乎此前想到了，便自信地做答了。
第三，英语问题（English question)。我一听这个，立马有中招的感觉。因为本人英语实在不咋样~~~~~
第四，如果你作为一位电梯接待员会做什么？我哪儿搞过那东西？（身中第二刀）但还是得说啊，因此牛头不对马嘴说了一通……
隐藏题目：一个被弄翻的垃圾桶。可惜这是我事后从报纸上才看到的（丢人！）
