　　朋友P谈儿时乡间夏日生活乐事之一，是在柳树下乘凉，仰望天上的云，想象自己坐在云上，遨游太空。
　　他说这也许是看《西游记》的影响。他还记得农民对云的变幻也相当注意，因为那和晴雨有关。他曾见英语谚语有: Red clouds in the east, rain the next day。想是英国农民看云测晴雨的经验谈。
　　他说乡谚有“日没火烧云，明天晒死人”的说法，说黄昏时西方的红云，是次日天气炎热之兆。他说云和天气的密切关系，在谚语中常用以比喻人生遭遇，如:After clouds, calm weather一语，来自：After a storm comes a calm weather，亦作After black clouds comes clear weather, 正是我们说的“雨过天晴”，比喻情况由坏转好。
　　不过，西方谚语中另有一句：All clouds bring no storms（亦作no rains），即使乌云密布，未必一定下雨。此谚语常用以提醒我们世事发展未必定如预见。形势欠佳，未必一定十分不利。
　　老板对伙计发脾气，有人安慰伙计道：Don't worry. all clouds bring no storms！老板发怒，不会炒鱿鱼的！朋友P说，晴雨难测，谁都难说明天如何，但要记得：After clouds, calm weather。
